Get into the festival spirit with your family
Motorhomes are the perfect way to travel and stay in style, whatever the festival you plan to attend. While we’ve put together a rundown of some of the best festivals for the grownups, there’s also a festival aimed at the under 13’s and their families. Geronimo is a festival aimed at youngsters. Taking place at Arley Hall in Cheshire from the 25th to the 28th of May, then at Knebworth House near Stevenage from the 30th of June to the 1st of July.
Arley Hall and gardens in Cheshire
Equidistant from Altrincham, Warrington and Northwich, Arley Hall and gardens is a fifteenth Century estate under the stewardship of the current Lord and Lady Ashbrook, about four miles south of Lymm. The grown-ups will no doubt appreciate the architecture, the heritage and the beauty of the gardens, the youngsters may be more interested in the wide open spaces and, of course, the Geronimo Festival itself. While camping and glamping are part of the fun at Arley Hall, it doesn’t appear to be part of the Knebworth House Geronimo, so bear that in mind while booking tickets and also make sure you book the special motorhome version of the tickets to avoid disappointment.
What’s on at Geronimo?
The Geronimo Festival is a cornucopia for the young and the young at heart. Take all the best ‘fun activity days’ you remember from school, all the arts and crafts things you used to enjoy, any adventure holiday you went on, then dial it all up to eleven and mix it together in one place. That’s Geronimo.
If you’ve been sat in the living room watching TV with your pre-teen, then the Geronimo line-up will probably look at least a bit familiar. With Justin Fletcher (AKA Mr Tumble), Cook & Line from ‘Swashbuckle’ and Mr Bloom from Cbeebies to name but a few.
One of the most impressive things about the Geronimo festival is the sheer variety of things to do. Want a child friendly ‘rave’ with lights, tunes glitter cannons and bubbles, you’ll find it there. Want to learn and practice circus skills? No problem. Perhaps adventure playgrounds are more your thing, or even building your own. You can do that too. With many dozens of things to see, do and take part in, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
It wouldn’t be a festival without a festival soundtrack and Geronimo is no different. With a mix of mainstream festival performers, current stars, rising stars and recognisable faces from kids TV, the performances will be authentic, but also family friendly.
Relaxation for the Grown Ups
If it all gets too much for you, then take advantage of some of the holistic treatments on offer in the ‘Healing Area’. With Aromatherapy, hot stone massage, acupuncture and raindrop therapy, you’ll wish this kind of thing was available everywhere children assemble in large groups, not to mention an open-air spa experience for the ultimate in relaxation.
